Let's Talk Infant Digestion & Stooling | What IBCLCs will learn from the Guts & Butts Course

In less than 24 hours, my course Infant Guts & Butts: Stooling & Digestion for the Lactation Professional launches, and I can barely contain myself!

I've worked hard to put together this course; I've read hundreds of studies, spent tens of hours putting the course together, and recorded the whole 6-hour long presentation multiple times (yay anxiety!).

In the end, I decided to push out four recorded sessions and save the final ~1.5-hour session for a live presentation because it's more fun and allows for real-time discussion on this complicated topic. It will be recorded, though, and everyone will have access to the whole course through the end of July.

Did I mention that it's 7-L cerps?!

Before the early bird pricing wraps up, I want to highlight some of the awesome things you will learn in the course and how your skills as a Lactation professional/IBCLC will improve in case you want to hop on the final chance ever to get it at $125.

After 6/15, the course can be purchased at the full price of $200 and will remain at that price once it's moved over to my learning platform in a couple of months.

Shout out to Annie Frisbie for hosting and promoting this course!!

Things you'll Learn:

  • GI Anatomy:A review of the major organs to the specific nerve layers that make up the amazing (and vitally important) Enteric Nervous system

  • The components of human milk that lead to more frequent stooling and how genetics influences not only the milk components but the infant's gut microbiome

  • How the body is biologically programmed for frequent stooling and why there are changes in infant stooling patterns during the first few months of life

  • The Lactobiome Motility Model

  • The signs, symptoms, and risks factors of a variety of GI conditions

  • What Diarrhea and Constipation look like in the human milk-fed infant

  • The physiology of how probiotics work

And More…

Learning things are cool and all, but I know what you want to know is how you can better serve your clients by taking this course.

That is an understandable, fair, and expected question. As a Private Practice IBCLC myself, I had to think long and hard about how the information I was putting together would lead to better outcomes for the dyads we serve.

It wasn't good enough to expose lactation professionals to new information- I wanted there to be actionable takeaways to improve the quality of care parents and babies receive.

With that in mind, Lactation professionals/IBCLCs who take my Infant Guts & Butts course will have:

Reduced contribution to missed or delayed diagnoses: You will learn the subtle and not so subtle red flags of GI dysfunction/ Dysmotility and feel confident in your ability to refer and advocate on behalf of your clients.

Improved counseling regarding infant formula: You will be able to address better their concerns regarding stooling for families who use Infant formula and counsel them on formula differences/options that may resolve their concerns*.

A better understanding of how common strategies work: Tummy time for constipation is fantastic, but when will it be the best suggestion compared to the other options you could recommend? Rather than just blindly suggesting strategies, the knowledge you learn from this course will lead to better critical thinking skills, which will result in better outcomes.

*All final decisions regarding infant formulas should be made with the guidance of the baby's primary care provider

All-in-all this is a hefty course with information that you can't get anywhere else in the lactation field. While I am nervous about taking on such a groundbreaking project, I am excited about this offering this learning opportunity.

If you haven't purchased tickets already, don't miss out! You can join the course anytime before the end of July.

If you have already registered, thank you for trusting me to join you on your learning journey, and I look forward to 'seeing' you over the next few weeks.
